Data and Analysis Software Engineer

Our Data & Analysis team currently has an opportunity for an experienced Data & Analysis Software Engineer to join them in Banyo on a permanent basis. In this role you will work as part of a broader team which is responsible for gathering, analysing and presenting large amounts of data relating to track and overhead conditions. This data is relayed to and used by a range of internal departments to help inform maintenance requirements and preventative maintenance planning, aswell as to form reporting to the government and regulators.
Your focus will be to design, develop and improve applications, systems and processes to enable the analysis of condition information, improve data management and data collection efficiency and assist in the implementation of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques. Substantial previous experience of .Net (C#, VB.Net) and SQL server application development will be essential in helping to ensure your success in this position.

Position Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, document and implement track and overhead recording systems, applications, database, and machine learning techniques that will enable improved asset management decisions, in collaboration with Team Leader Data Analysis and wider data science team.
2. Create, maintain and integrate the data delivery pipeline to enable the effective delivery of quality assured data analysis outcomes, in collaboration with Team Leader Data Analysis and wider data science team.
3. Provide technical advice to team members and to the greater organisational audience, relating to the maintenance and publishing of data through the data delivery pipeline.
4. Monitor industry development and foster innovation in Track and Overhead Recording, condition analysis, and data management techniques deployed within the unit.
5. Foster collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure analysis outcomes used to develop preventative asset management plans.
6. Assist with the track recording duties as directed by Management.


Key selection criteria:
1. High level of technical skill in the use of data analysis tools including application and database development, automated process, IT solutions, conceptual and problem-solving techniques.
2. High level of skill in designing application test plans for the commissioning of applications that have been developed with in Track and Overhead Recording.
3. High level of skill in designing application user guides and application system level documentation of applications that have been developed with in Track and Overhead Recording.
4. High level of skill in implementing technology change management strategies.
5. High level of interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to liaise effectively across a broad range of stakeholders and user base.
6. Substantial level of skill in working in a positive team environment, sharing knowledge and supporting others in the achievement of team goals.
7. Knowledge of and willingness to commit to Queensland Rail's Values and Behaviours.

 

Position Description

Contract type: Permanent, full time.

Annual salary: $96,090 plus superannuation. Salary increases annually based on satisfactory performance.
