As a Guest Services Attendant you will be based in Freshwater however you will work on board our Kuranda Scenic Rail to provide exceptional customer service in both our Heritage and Gold Class services. On arrival at Kuranda Station, you will serve customers in our tearoom and assisting with providing food and souvenirs prior to returning on the afternoon service. The Kuranda Scenic Railway is such an iconic and unforgettable journey for our customers with spectacular waterfalls and picturesque scenery as you travel through 15 handmade tunnels and across 37 towering bridges whilst receiving exceptional customer service.

As a Guest Service Attendant some of your duties will include:

  • Create a memorable onboard customer service experience for all passengers
  • Verify ticket validity, ensure correct seating and maintain onboard presentation standards
  • Perform catering duties in our refreshment room at Kuranda Station or in our Gold Class Service, adhering to food hygiene and responsible service of alcohol regulations
  • Report incidents, activities and defects to the Senior Guest Service Attendant
  • Stay updated on Queensland Rail Tourist Train service, products and third-party travel offerings 
  • Working within a team of up to five, in a non-airconditioned environment. 

Hours

This is a permanent part-time opportunity which guarantees 53.6 hours per fortnight however depending on the needs of the business you may be required to work up to 76 hours per fortnight. Currently, the average Guest Service Attendant consistently works between 65-72 hours with regular opportunities for additional shifts.


The hours that you will work will be between the hours of 0745 to 1606 or 0855 to 1736 on a rotating roster which will include weekends and public holidays. 

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Resilience and adaptability.
  • Ability to undertake a variety of manual handling tasks including cleaning and lifting of heavy luggage up to 20 kilograms.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment 
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to go the ‘extra mile’ 
  • A safety conscious attitude 
  • Be prepared to work onboard in a non-air-conditioned environment 
  • Previous customer service experience from a catering/ tourism / hospitality / retail background would be highly desirable.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) is mandatory prior to commencement of employment.
