Discounted Train Travel
Employees can travel to and from work for free, as well as access other free and/or discounted rail travel for off-duty travel on the City and long-distance travel networks.
Superannuation
If you’re a permanent employee, you can choose to contribute between 2% - 5% from your pre or post-tax salary into an Accumulation super plan. The more you contribute, the greater the employer contribution will be, up to a maximum of 12.75%.
Most fixed-term and all casual employees will be placed in a non-contributory Rail Super plan and receive 10.5%, and fixed-term employees have the choice to join the Accumulation plan.
QSuper is the default fund and compulsory superannuation provider for all employees captured under the Enterprise Agreement. Employees on individual Senior and Executive contracts may opt to elect an alternative superannuation fund.
Novated Leasing & Salary Packaging
Salary packaging is a means of providing employees with the ability to change the structure of their remuneration package and receive part of their salary in the form of non-cash benefits. One of the most popular options is Novated Motor Vehicle leasing, where benefits can include income tax savings, GST savings and access to fleet discounts.

The Queensland Rail Institute (QRi) is a membership club that provides lifestyle benefits and services to Queensland Rail employees. Leave & Flexible Working
When a good balance between work and personal commitments is achieved, everyone benefits. Employees captured under any of Queensland Rail’s Enterprise Agreements will receive an additional 17.5% leave loading on their four-week annual leave entitlement, and employees such as Traincrew, Onboard customer service and technicians are entitled to five weeks annual leave per year. Queensland Rail also offers paid parental and partner leave, along with flexible working opportunities.
