We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and dedicated Accountant to join our Financial Accounting team, responsible for maintaining transactional accounting entries, integrity of the general ledger, financial analysis and reporting, as well as supporting the timely and accurate analysis and interpretation of financial results.  The team is also responsible for month-end close processes within the 2-day close timeframe.

 

This is a permanent position, based in Brisbane CBD, with a starting base salary of $118,870 plus up to 12.75% superannuation.

 

Key responsibilities include:

                   

  • Receive, request, validate and process general ledger accounting transactions including cost allocations, transactions reallocations, accruals, prepayments, sales invoices and credit notes.
  • Review general ledger accounting transactions to ensure the integrity, accuracy and completeness of general ledger information.
  • Perform period end close tasks and processes in accordance with established procedures and timeframes ensuring general ledger close timetables are achieved or exceeded.
  • Assist team members to collectively achieve tasks and responsibilities, in a timely manner, which may include routine, ad hoc and general housekeeping tasks as requested.
  • Engage proactively and collaboratively with business areas to enhance and promote accurate and timely processing of general ledger transactions.
  • Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner ensuring all transactions are valid and have appropriate supporting information.
  • Assist with the maintenance and preparation of detailed work instructions and procedures to reflect all tasks and processes with the team.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively in a professional, customer and results oriented team.

The successful candidate will have:

 

  • Previous experience working in a centralised transactional Financial Accounting team.
  • Excellent time and task management abilities.
  • High attention detail.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Good communication skills.
  • CPA or CA qualification (or currently studying toward) is highly regarded.

 

 

Pre-employment qualification:  A degree in Accounting, Economics, or Business is required.  An offer cannot be extended without providing a JP Certified, colour copy of your degree.
