In this exciting role, acting as a key representative for Queensland Rail as the Owner participant Alliance Delivery Manager, you will be required to lead and provide project management skills and expertise to manage project control functions on high cost, and highly complex rollingstock projects within the Strategic Partnership Alliance between Downer and Queensland Rail.

About you: 

 

Your previous experience delivering highly complex, large dollar projects will help ensure your success. Rollingstock and exposure to working in an alliance would be highly regarded but is not essential.

 

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities include:

 

  • Develop, manage, and implement project plans, including project schedules, cost plans and cash flows in line with the approved scope and budgets for passenger rollingstock projects in Alliance contracting environments.

  • Monitor and manage assessment and implementation of risk management and value engineering activities throughout the project life cycle including SEQ Rail Fusion Alliance projects.

  • Monitor and manage the implementation of Alliance project activities for contractors, consultants, internal and external service providers

  • Manage the Alliance controls team to ensure regular and adhoc monthly reporting to Management and RFA Program Managers on project progress, with particular emphasis on actual and potential variations and Adjustment events to cost, time or quality.

  • Develop and implement remedial actions to cope with unexpected contingencies

  • Lead the SEQ project control functions for the Strategic Partnership Alliance using resources from both Downer and Queensland Rail to determine resource requirements and develop, implement and monitor effective strategies required to support the delivery of the SEQ project control functions for the Strategic Partnership Alliance. Functions include, Scheduling, Commercial and Accounting.

To be considered, applicants will need to demonstrate the following:

 

  • High level of skill in project management within a multi-disciplinary project management environment in accordance with recognised best practice project management methods.

  • High level of experience in developing and managing budgets for multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Substantial level of skill in planning, organising, concept development, problem solving and analysis in a project management environment.

  • Extensive knowledge of procurement processes, contract administration and design requirements

  • High level of skill in the leadership and management of effective teams preferably within Alliance or collaborative contracting delivery models.

  • Extensive knowledge of rail business and operations required for effective decision making about alliance delivery strategy, performance monitoring and governance.

  • High level of skill in the application of analytical problem-solving techniques for the purpose of leading the development of earned value reporting, progress reporting and adhoc reporting on issues resolution and progress.

 

This exciting Brisbane based opportunity is permanent full-time with considerable intrastate travel to a Regional Centre so a level of flexibility to work between the various offices would be required.

 

Contract level role remuneration will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience.
