Build, Innovate, and Grow with our Operational Systems Engineering team

 

  • Collaborate closely with peers to enhance scalability and performance of Queensland Rail’s Operational Systems.
  • Apply engineering techniques to drive product development and system improvements.
  • Work in an agile environment, continuously refining delivery to maximise customer and stakeholder value.
  • Tackle complex software and systems engineering challenges, using a broad range of technologies.
  • Contribute directly to business operations while having the freedom to innovate and suggest improvements.

 

The Tech Behind the Role

 

In this role, you’ll work with a range of technologies, including:

 

  • A predominantly Microsoft-based environment
  • Programming languages like C#, C++, and PowerShell
  • .NET Framework and AMQP
  • SQL databases
  • SCADA systems
  • Web Apps and Microsoft Azure
  • Procedural programming languages

 

What you’ll bring

 

Currently hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or be on track to complete by the end of 2025. Within the following relevant disciplines:

 

Software Engineering, Computer and Software Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or other equivalent degrees that demonstrate significant software development components.

 

Other than that, we are looking for you to have the following attributes:

 

  • High academic achievement in your degree discipline.
  • Enthusiasm to be involved in all parts of the Software Development Lifecycle to support the development and maintenance of computer-based operational systems.
  • A test and learn mindset with curiosity, collaboration and care.
  • Substantial level of interpersonal, negotiation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Substantial analytical and problem-solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
