We offer flexible working arrangements, recognising the importance of balancing site engagement, team collaboration and focused individual work.
About the Role
As a Health & Safety Business Partner, you will work collaboratively with leaders and frontline teams to embed strong safety practices across regional operations.
You’ll provide practical, risk-based advice, support the effective application of risk management processes, and contribute to continuous improvement in safety performance.
Key accountabilities include:
- Providing high-quality safety advice aligned to legislation and Queensland Rail’s Safety Management System
- Building strong, trusted relationships with leaders and workers, acting as a coach and partner in health and safety
- Supporting risk management processes, including identifying hazards and developing effective control strategies
- Conducting audits, inspections and reviews to monitor the effectiveness of safety controls and systems
- Assisting with incident response and investigations, ensuring learnings are identified and shared
- Working collaboratively with the Regional Safety, Risk and Assurance team to achieve consistent safety outcomes across geographically dispersed locations
About You — People Who Count
You are a self-driven safety professional who brings practical industry experience and thrives working both independently and as part of a team.
You will demonstrate:
- Qualifications in health and safety or a related discipline
- Strong experience in an operational or heavy industry environment (e.g. maintenance, rail, manufacturing or similar)
- Proven capability in facilitating risk management processes and implementing effective controls
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels
- Strong investigation, analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing conditions across regional operations
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to work autonomously and drive positive safety outcomes
Why Queensland Rail?
- Contribute to a business where safety is embedded in everything we do
- Work across diverse regional operations and make a meaningful impact
- Be part of a collaborative and supportive team environment
- Enjoy a Brisbane-based role with regional engagement
- Access flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance
