Queensland Rail’s Major Projects Integration team is currently seeking an experienced LV Systems Engineer. This role will support successful delivery of the Logan & Gold Coast Faster Rail project using Low Voltage (LV) Electrical systems technologies ensuring effective engineering capability and efficient delivery processes.

 

About the role:

 

  • Oversight and approval of LV electrical system design, with a practical lens on operability, maintainability, and whole-of-life performance.
  • Coordinating and supervising contractors, tradespeople, and suppliers involved in the delivery and installation of LV assets including lighting, pits and conduits, and distribution systems.
  • Supporting construction, commissioning and handover stages of LV infrastructure ensuring operational readiness and maintainability.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and Queensland Rail asset management requirements.
  • Supporting field inspections, site acceptance testing, and fault rectification during project execution and early operations.
  • Contributing to the LV Systems Strategy, with emphasis on operations integration and ongoing maintenance interfaces.
  • Design acceptance, from internal and external sources, for Networks LV electrical works, assets and lighting requirements in electrified and non-electrified environments.
  • Leadership in appointing external consultants and contractors to undertake LV electrical work, distribution, assets, equipment and lighting.
  • Lead, develop and implement an effective strategy for LV Systems Engineering.
  • Support the development, delivery and maintenance of the LV Systems Strategy for Network.

 

 

What we are looking for:

 

  •          Strong trade or technical background in low voltage electrical systems—electrical trade qualification or relevant engineering degree (Electrical Engineering desirable).
  •          Solid understanding of construction, maintenance, and fault response in a high-risk operational environment, ideally within rail or transport sectors.
  •          Ability to supervise and guide on-site contractors and field teams delivering LV works.
  •          Experience with project delivery, field commissioning, and integration of systems into operational rail environments.
  •          Knowledge of relevant electrical legislation, WHS, and QR safety systems.
  •          Strong interpersonal skills to work across engineering, operations, and trade-level stakeholders.
