The Enterprise Risk Management Team is a highly regarded group of risk and assurance professionals that provides strategic leadership and expert guidance across Risk, Assurance, Compliance, Business Resilience and Policy Governance. The team plays a critical role in shaping organisational direction and supporting Queensland Rail’s transformation journey, delivering positive outcomes for customers, employees and the broader community.

 

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager Enterprise Risk Management to lead the ongoing development, implementation and enhancement of Queensland Rail’s enterprise-wide Risk, Assurance and Compliance Management frameworks.

 

Leading a team of skilled professionals, you will partner with business leaders to strengthen risk capability, enhance governance practices and support effective risk management across the organisation. Through your leadership, you will help deliver positive safety, customer, people, commercial and community outcomes.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Lead Queensland Rail’s enterprise risk function, providing strategic advice and leadership to strengthen organisational risk maturity and support informed business decision-making.
  • Develop and continuously improve enterprise risk management frameworks, systems and programs, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements, industry standards and business objectives.
  • Provide insightful reporting and risk oversight to Executive and Board Committees, delivering clear analysis of strategic and emerging risks, risk appetite, key indicators and organisational risk exposure.
  • Drive consistent risk, assurance and compliance practices across the organisation, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities and embedding effective risk management frameworks and processes.
  • Enhance risk capability and performance through education, coaching and support for leaders and teams, promoting accountability and best-practice risk management across the business.
  • Lead a high-performing team and optimise risk management technology and assurance activities, ensuring effective compliance, robust control environments, continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Brisbane CBD, offering hybrid work options and 12.75% superannuation to support a healthy work-life balance. We offer an attractive salary based on skills and experience.



What we’re looking for.

 

  • Extensive leadership experience in enterprise risk management and assurance within a large, complex organisation, preferably in a corporate or strategic operational context.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic risk advice and build trusted relationships and influence senior stakeholders, fostering a strong risk culture, supporting informed decision-making and driving organisational maturity.
  • Extensive experience in designing, implementing and continuously improving risk, assurance and compliance policies, systems and tools, ensuring practical, consistent and fit-for-purpose outcomes.
  • Strong capability in preparing and presenting high-quality risk, assurance and compliance reporting to Executive and Board Committees, providing clear insights into strategic risks, key indicators and organisational risk exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of governance frameworks, legislative and regulatory requirements, with the ability to interpret and apply these effectively to ensure compliance and mitigate organisational risk.
