Manager HV Systems Engineering
Brisbane, QLD, AU, 4000
You’ll connect Queensland. We’ll connect you to an amazing career.
At Queensland Rail, we're investing in the future of our network, and we're looking for an experienced engineering leader to drive the delivery of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems engineering services across our operational and capital programs.
Your opportunity
As Manager HV Systems Engineering, you'll bring a strong technical background in rail HV and LV engineering, combined with the leadership capability to drive delivery, solve complex challenges and guide teams through competing priorities. Success in this role comes from your ability to balance technical expertise with people leadership, stakeholder engagement and operational decision-making in a fast-paced rail environment.
What you’ll be doing
- You'll work across multiple stakeholder groups, from frontline operational teams and external suppliers through to senior executives, translating technical issues into practical, business-focused solutions.
- Lead, develop and motivate a team of HV engineering professionals, ensuring safe, effective and customer-focused delivery outcomes.
- Oversee the delivery, assurance and compliance of HV engineering designs, reviews, verification activities and governance obligations.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering support across operational, maintenance and capital programs, including reliability and network performance activities.
- Manage engineering resources and third-party power supply agreements to support business and project objectives.
- Build strong relationships across all levels of the business, providing clear technical advice, recommendations and reporting to drive informed decision-making.
What you’ll bring
We're looking for a practical and delivery-focused leader with significant experience in railway engineering environments/or closely aligned too, along with:
- Strong expertise in both HV and LV electrical systems.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and delivering outcomes in complex, fast-paced environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and provide advice at all levels of an organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems while maintaining a focus on safety, compliance and delivery outcomes.
- Experience in engineering assurance, governance and compliance, with exposure to contract management and rail power systems highly regarded.
Qualifications
A degree qualification in Engineering is highly regarded; however, we recognise that extensive relevant industry experience is equally valuable. If you've built a successful career delivering HV engineering outcomes within rail or comparable critical infrastructure environments, we'd love to hear from you.
