About this opportunity

We are seeking an experienced insurance professional to join our Finance and Corporate Services team, consisting of 5 finance leaders as Manager Insurance and Claims.

This is a strategic, in-house role responsible for:

• Managing our enterprise insurance program and providing expert advice on insurance and risk transfer across the organisation.
• In-house governance, risk and operational outcomes rather than brokerage or sales activity.
• Direct leadership and support to one Insurance Coordinator.

About the role

This is a strategic, in-house role leading Queensland Rail’s enterprise-wide insurance program and overseeing end-to-end claims and third-party recoveries. You will ensure our insurance arrangements are fit for purpose, cost-effective and aligned with organisational risk and governance requirements, while providing practical, timely advice on coverage and risk transfer across operations and major projects.

You will build and manage broker and insurer relationships, apply sound judgement to complex claims matters, and translate technical insurance concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.

We are looking for a capable and collaborative professional with experience in enterprise insurance and claims management who can build trusted relationships, drive continuous improvement in processes and reporting, and lead with integrity.

Remuneration & Employment Type

• Salary of $205,000 plus 12.75% superannuation
• Fixed-term, full time position to 28 February 2027 – potential to extend
• Brisbane in CBD
