  • Broker & Policy Management – Act as the primary liaison with our external insurance broker, negotiating policy placements and renewals ensuring timely and accurate information is provided for annual program reviews and renewals.
  • Claims Oversight – Oversee end-to-end management of insurance claims, ensuring timely and fair resolution of claims. Drive continuous improvements in claims processes, reporting and insights to support effective decision-making.
  • Third-Party Recoveries – Manage the recovery of costs from third parties responsible for damage to Queensland Rail property. Collaborate with internal teams to identify incidents, confirm third-party liability, and ensure successful cost recovery.
  • Strategic Advice & Risk Transfer – Advise internal stakeholders on insurance coverage requirements, risk transfer mechanisms, and insurance considerations for projects and contracts – ensuring appropriate protections are in place.

We’re seeking a dedicated professional with:

  • Enterprise Insurance Expertise – Extensive experience managing enterprise-level insurance programs in a large, complex organisation, including hands-on involvement in policy review, placement, renewals and administration.
  • Risk & Coverage Knowledge – In-depth understanding of insurance principles and advanced risk transfer strategies, with the ability to develop and implement effective insurance solutions that protect an organisation’s assets.
  • Claims Management Skills – Proven ability to oversee complex insurance claims and recovery processes, coordinating with insurers, brokers and internal stakeholders to achieve timely, appropriate outcomes.
  • Analytical Aptitude – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret insurance documentation, assess incident information, and produce clear, accurate reports to support decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for building collaborative relationships and confidently advising stakeholders at all levels on insurance and risk matters.
  • Leadership & Integrity – Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team, driving high performance, and upholding strong ethical standards and safety focus in line with Queensland Rail’s core values.
