You’ll connect Queensland. We’ll connect you to an amazing career.

Queensland Rail stands on the foundation of true connection, encompassing the relationships we foster within our teams and the communities we serve across the state. For over 150 years, we've been instrumental in linking people and places, and now we invite you to contribute to our proud legacy and shape a brighter, sustainable future.

Your Opportunity

At Queensland Rail, the property portfolio is more than just land and buildings – it’s a platform for innovation, community value, and enabling operational excellence. As Queensland Rail undergoes a significant transformation in how we deliver services across the state, the Property team is looking for a strategic leader to head its Property Strategy & Planning team and drive high-impact, commercially focused property outcomes.

As Manager Property Strategy & Planning, you will lead the development and execution of end-to-end property strategies that align with Queensland Rail’s commercial, operational, and community objectives. Reporting to the Group Senior Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping high-profile, multi-million-dollar Queensland Rail precinct projects across the state, while representing the Property function at executive and senior leadership levels.

You will play a key role in building and maintaining effective partnerships with senior leaders across both SEQ and Regional Lines of Business. In this role, you will provide high-level strategic property advice and planning support, helping to leverage property assets to align with and drive operational objectives. Your ability to engage with stakeholders, understand business needs, and translate them into actionable property strategies will be critical to the success of our long-term goals.

Leading a small team, you will foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture and provide strategic direction on complex property projects in our portfolio. This role will work closely with the Group Senior Manager on strategic projects and is integral to our broader property leadership team.

Positioned at the forefront of Queensland Rail’s transformation journey, this role will have the opportunity to contribute to major initiatives such as precinct development in Brisbane and major Regional centres and affordable housing, delivering projects that generate real community value. With substantial investment underway in rail infrastructure, this is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact.

This is a permanent, fulltime position based in the Brisbane CBD. The role offers a competitive remuneration package starting at $213,372 (inclusive of 12.75% superannuation), negotiable based on experience. Hybrid work arrangements are available to support a healthy work-life balance.

What You’ll Bring

  • Significant experience in property strategy and planning within large and complex organisations – ideally in infrastructure, government, or transport sectors.
  • Expertise across the full property lifecycle including acquisitions, disposals, leasing, planning, and precinct development.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and deliver property solutions that align with operational objectives.
  • A strong track record leading high-profile, high-value property or projects that deliver both commercial and community outcomes.
  • Sharp commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to provide strategic advice and assess property impacts.
  • Resilience and adaptability – you're resourceful, thrive in complexity, and can work independently in the absence of set processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience preparing board papers and delivering presentations to high-level stakeholders.
  • Confidence and presence to influence and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, inclusive leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop a small, high-performing team.
