About this role
We’re seeking a strategically minded and influential Manager Regional Risk to champion the uplift and integration of enterprise risk management across Queensland Rail’s Regional business. In this pivotal role, you’ll shape how risk is understood, communicated and managed across our operations — ensuring our people, customers, assets and communities are protected through strong frameworks, informed decision‑making and mature risk culture.
As a leader within the Regional Safety, Risk & Services team, you will drive meaningful enterprise risk capability, partner with leaders to strengthen organisational resilience, and guide how risks are identified, monitored and acted on across a diverse and complex operational environment.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Brisbane CBD, with some travel to regional operations.

Purpose That Counts – What you’ll lead
• Provide strategic leadership on enterprise and operational risk, shaping frameworks, reporting and governance that enable confident, risk informed decisions across the Region.
• Drive the maturity, consistency and continual improvement of risk and assurance systems and frameworks ensuring processes are practical, value‑adding and aligned to strategy.
• Influence and enable senior leaders and operational teams to embed strong risk practices, building capability and strengthening a proactive, accountable risk culture.
• Oversee the development, integration and monitoring of risk and assurance programs, ensuring alignment with corporate risks and visibility of emerging trends.
• Partner closely with the Senior Manager Regional Safety, Risk & Services to provide expert advice and insights into the Regional risk profile to the Executive and Board.
• Champion effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement to ensure risks are clearly understood, owned and well managed.

• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing risk policies and assurance frameworks in large, complex organisations.
• High‑level leadership capability, with experience guiding teams and influencing culture to achieve improved risk outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, consultation and influencing skills, with the ability to build productive partnerships across technical, operational and senior leadership groups.
• Proven ability to design, govern and embed risk management systems, tools and processes that support maturity, insight and effective decision‑making.
• Strong analytical and conceptual capability to translate complex information into meaningful insights and actions.
