Your opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on, flexible and visionary Manager Solution Architecture to lead our solution architecture practice and help shape the future of technology at Queensland Rail.
This is a unique opportunity for a leader who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about driving continuous improvement. You will also be instrumental in driving transformation and ensuring our technology solutions are aligned with business needs and ICT strategy and standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership, ownership, and technical expertise for the solution architecture practice, overseeing a small team of internal solution architects and external project delivery solution architect partners.
- Leading technical discussions to ensure appropriate technology solutions are implemented across multiple core technologies and platforms, meeting current business requirements and aligning with ICT architecture and industry standards.
- Overseeing technology solutions throughout implementation in accordance with design across the project/program lifecycle, providing strong assurance through architecture governance and risk decisions.
- Partnering with business stakeholders to shape and understand business strategies, recommend improvements, and deliver high-quality consulting and advisory services 4. through the solution lifecycle.
- Driving continuous improvement and uplift of the Solution Architecture practice, collaborating with Enterprise Architects to shape long-term system design approaches, architecture patterns and assurance activities.
- Maintaining extensive knowledge of Queensland Rail’s technology environment and influence solution development across the entire technology portfolio.
- Contributing to a learning organisation through the personal and team development of core competencies including new and emerging technologies

This is a fulltime, permanent position based in Brisbane CBD, offering a competitive remuneration package and hybrid work options to support a healthy work-life balance.
What we’re looking for
- Extensive knowledge in producing end to end solution architecture encompassing functional, application, data, security, infrastructure and integration in medium to large enterprise environments.
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise solutions, SaaS platforms, integration patterns, security models and Solution Architecture frameworks and processes and how these enable delivery of effective technology solutions.
- High level of conceptual and analytical skills and adaptable in relation to solution design, development and technical environment issues in the implementation of diverse business solutions.
- High level of skill in leading, coaching and developing Solution Architects and leading change.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills, with strengths in negotiating, influencing, facilitating and presenting information.
- High level of skill in developing effective relationships with clients, peers, staff and vendors to enable working effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
