Manager Strategic Integrated Planning
Brisbane, QLD, AU, 4000
You’ll connect Queensland. We’ll connect you to an amazing career.
Queensland Rail stands on the foundation of true connection, encompassing the relationships we foster within our teams and the communities we serve across the state. For over 150 years, we've been instrumental in linking people and places, and now we invite you to contribute to our proud legacy and shape a brighter, sustainable future.
Queensland Rail is searching for an experienced Manager Strategic Integrated Planning to help lead our long-term operational strategy. This role works at the intersection of planning, data, and future service delivery – bringing together elements like timetabling, workforce, rollingstock, and infrastructure into one cohesive picture.
Your Opportunity
You will work across all areas of Queensland Rail – including master timetable development, customer service, infrastructure, rollingstock, workforce planning, and corporate strategy – to gather insights and align long-term plans. Your impact will be to bring together strategic and operational inputs and translate them into executable, forward-looking operating and maintenance plans that reflect future network needs.
You will also lead the evolution of Queensland Rail’s Network Concept of Operations, ensuring our strategic planning is grounded in a shared operational vision. This role will support the development of scenario-based planning approaches and improve how we model complex interactions across the network.
This position will require someone who is not only strategic, but also hands-on – a leader who actively leans in, navigates cross-functional environments, and ensures the right data is driving decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Act as the custodian of Queensland Rail’s long-term operating strategy, integrating rollingstock, workforce, and timetable planning into a single view.
- Lead the development of strategic operational frameworks and initiatives across SEQ and Regional rail, including the Network Concept of Operations.
- Champion the use of operational simulation and data-driven scenario planning (e.g. AnyLogic) to inform decisions.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and specialist teams to extract and unify data and insights from across the business.
- Deliver clear, actionable operating and capacity plans aligned to corporate goals and state-wide transport priorities.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in long-term operational or maintenance planning in complex, asset-intensive or service-based environments.
- Experience using or interpreting outputs from operational modelling tools (e.g. AnyLogic), or familiarity with scenario-based planning in constrained systems
- Background in rail operations is preferable but also open to candidates from public transport, aviation operations, logistics and supply chain operations, mining, utilities and asset-intensive industries, and management consulting (infrastructure or transport focus).
- Confidence working across multiple teams and managing senior stakeholder relationship.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to lead through ambiguity and influence across all levels.
