Your Opportunity
Queensland Rail is seeking a People Adviser to join our HR Central People Services team from 31 January 2026 to 22 January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert advice and support to over 8,000 employees across the organisation.
In this role, you will deliver guidance on a wide range of people and culture matters including policy and enterprise agreement interpretation, salary and entitlements, recruitment and onboarding, performance management, absenteeism and general people management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert HR advice and coaching to leaders on a wide range of HR and ER issues, including performance management, workplace behaviour, and policy application.
- Deliver tailored support on complex people matters, ensuring compliance with policies, enterprise agreements, and legislation.
- Prepare accurate documentation and reports to support HR operations and maintain compliance with governance principles.
- Contribute to capability-building initiatives by developing and delivering awareness sessions on HR programs, policies, and legislation.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships by influencing and engaging leaders to implement effective and consistent HR practices across the business.

About you:
- Relevant experience as a People Adviser or similar role.
- Proven experience advising employees at all levels with HR matters, such as policy and enterprise interpretation, employment legislation, performance management, absenteeism, and employee complaints/grievances, harassment/bullying,.
- Knowledgeable of employment legislation (e.g., Fair Works)
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and written skills.
- Demonstrate high attention to detail.
- Strong time management and organisational skills – ability to balance multiple priorities and a high volume of time-sensitive matters.
- Proactive problem solver.
