Your opportunity
Our Regional Assets Capital Investment & Planning team have an opportunity for someone to join in the role of Principal Commercial Analyst.
Reporting to the Manager Asset Strategy and Investment, this key role works across the entirety of Regional Asset capital portfolio, providing governance guidance and direction to Program & Project Managers. You will play a critical role in supporting Queensland Rail’s Regional business by guiding the development of business case, preparation of high-quality business cases and board submissions. Through effective collaboration and coaching, you will help ensure governance frameworks are consistently applied and strategic outcomes are delivered across the portfolio.

You will coach a small team of professionals, who work alongside you, in the development of business cases and board submissions. With a wide range of exciting projects underway, this role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to shaping the future of Queensland through strategic planning and high-quality delivery.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of regional capital programs by coordinating planning efforts with internal stakeholders and delivery agents.
- Assist in the development of asset management plans and capital investment submissions aligned to organisational and government strategies.
- Lead the preparation of high-quality business cases and Board submissions that reflect strategic priorities and capital targets.
- Implement and maintain governance frameworks for capital planning, approvals, and reporting processes.
- Build strong relationships across Queensland Rail to ensure alignment on asset management priorities and facilitate timely outcomes.
Remuneration and Work Arrangement
This is a permanent, full-time role located in Brisbane CBD or at a key regional centre (Toowoomba or Townsville), with a starting base salary of $151,359 plus 12.75% super, along with 50/50 hybrid and flexible work options to support a healthy work-life balance.

About you:
- A collaborative team player with a strong ability to work across multiple stakeholders and projects.
- Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail, self-direction, and prioritisation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage effectively.
- Deep understanding of infrastructure asset management principles in strategic, commercial, and operational contexts.
- Skilled in analysing and interpreting financial and non-financial data to support sound decision-making.
- Calm and methodical under pressure, able to deliver accurate information to senior leaders within tight timeframes.
