We are excited to announce a unique opportunity to join our Major Projects Finance Team and support the strategic delivery of major rail infrastructure projects that are transforming South East Queensland. As part of the team, you will provide strategic financial advice and commercial support across major projects, including the Cross River Rail Project, New Gold Coast Stations, Logan to Gold Coast Rail, the Wave and other key growth projects.
Your opportunity
The Major Projects Business Partner team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Finance Business Partner (PT5), who can demonstrate a sound understanding of strategic commercial and financial issues impacting our business and has previous experience mentoring employees as well as coaching business leaders to achieve uplift in their financial acumen.
This role is an opportunity for you to support Executive and Senior leadership teams by leveraging data to provide valuable insights to our Major Projects functional teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes (including the analysis and documentation of key assumptions) as well as related reporting requirements and present the outcomes of these processes to management.
- Analyse business performance on a regular and ad-hoc basis to provide senior management with reports, analysis and advice on the impact of key financial and non-financial drivers and opportunities for improved performance.
- Provide professional advice to management regarding the financial management of the business with emphasis on financial performance and risk-based compliance.
- Develop management information and reporting systems.
- Mentor, develop and help coach a high performing team to provide high quality, value-adding financial and accounting information, advice and support.
- Coordinate reviews of financial processes, models and systems to identify, recommend and implement improvements and to ensure compliance.
- Produce reports and statements, including those that are required from a regulatory perspective.
What we're looking for:
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills including influencing, consultation, liaison, negotiation as well as oral and written communication skills.
- Experience analysing financial performance and providing financial, accounting, and commercial advice.
- High level of skill in modelling and analysing financial performance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, SAP ERP (R3), Anaplan and BI tools (e.g. Power BI) skills are highly desirable.
- Experience mentoring and developing a professional team.
- Extensive knowledge of financial and accounting standards, generally acceptable accounting principles and Legislation relevant to the financial administration and management of a large and highly diverse organisation.
Pre-employment qualification: Before an offer can be presented, the successful candidate will be required to provide a JP certified, colour copy of the mandatory degree - accounting, business, commerce, finance or other relevant qualification at graduate level.
Remuneration & Employment Type
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Brisbane CBD. The role offers a starting salary of $151,359 plus 12.75% superannuation, along with hybrid work options to support a healthy work-life balance.
