About the Role
Queensland Rail’s SEQ Assets group is an agile, multidisciplinary team committed to being trusted and valued business partners within Queensland Rail and the communities we serve.
We are seeking a high‑performing Principal OT Architect to join our Brisbane CBD office on a fixed‑term basis through to 31 July 2027.
Reporting to the Manager, OT Architecture and Security, this role provides senior technical leadership and architectural oversight for Queensland Rail’s Operational Technology (OT) hosting environment, supporting the safe, reliable and secure operation of critical rail systems.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide senior technical leadership and architectural oversight for OT server hosting and core infrastructure platforms.
- Develop, maintain and govern OT infrastructure architecture, standards and design artefacts.
- Assess existing environments and identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, performance and resilience.
- Provide architectural assurance across OT-related projects, including participation in design reviews and development of cost estimates.
- Engage with project, operational and technical stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business and operational requirements.
- Support implementation activities and ensure compliance with Queensland Rail OT architecture and security standards.
- Advise on and undertake proactive maintenance of OT hosting environments, including virtual and physical infrastructure.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of complex infrastructure issues and escalated incidents to support safe and reliable operations
What You Will Bring
- Extensive knowledge of on‑premises server and storage architecture, including commissioning and lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and maintaining server and compute infrastructure in OT/ICS environments.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Proven experience with Hyper‑V and VMware virtualisation platforms.
- Experience with Active Directory, VEEAM Backup and Restoration, Symantec End Point Protection applications
- Sound understanding of OT/ICS cybersecurity standards and vendor hardening best practices.
- Strong end‑to‑end solution design and delivery capability.
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with Information Technology systems, ideally within critical infrastructure or operational environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Engineering
