About this role:

 

Working within Queensland Rail’s Major Projects division as the Principal Project Engineer, you will be providing coordination and planning of integration works for externally delivered mega rail projects. You will play a key role with the Rail Corridor Planning Team and relevant contractors.

 

This role is a fixed term role until 31 August, 2029, based in Brisbane CBD. You will require a Bachelor of Engineering to be successful in this role. Salaries are between $160-172k + super.

 

You can expect some of your responsibilities to include: 

 

  • Partner with Queensland Rail stakeholders and delivery partners to coordinate and apply established staging frameworks, providing engineering input into the development and implementation of staging plans that maximise Scheduled Corridor Access System (SCAS) utilisation and minimise disruption to train operations.
  • Coordinate interfaces between external partners, contractors, delivery authorities and Queensland Rail's engineering and discipline leads.
  • Review integrated construction methodologies plan resources, estimate costs ensuring alignment with configuration state schedules and constraints.
  • Conduct and implement risk management and value engineering activities throughout the project life cycle.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of construction safety management systems.
  • Maintain close liaison with on-site operations, maintenance providers and network operations.
  • Undertake advance inspections and negotiations for stagging works

 

What you can bring to the role:

 

  • Extensive knowledge of rail infrastructure construction and maintenance standards, operations and practices
  • High level of management skills within a multi-disciplinary infrastructure project environment.
  • High written and oral communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of skill in estimating, planning, organising and programming of railway infrastructure construction projects.
  • High level of skills in planning, monitoring and forecasting project and operational budgets.
  • High level of skill in software applications applicable to forward planning and project management of infrastructure construction projects.
