About the role:

 

This exciting and important role will see you join the Rail Safety & Accreditation team, which sits within the Major Projects, System Integration and Assurance (SIA) group, working on major projects, like Cross River Rail, ETCS Level 2 signalling and Beerburrum to Nambour rail upgrade. These projects will result in significant changes to Queensland Rail’s railway configuration.

The team is responsible for providing rail safety accreditation services to Queensland Rail and external project stakeholders to ensure Queensland Rail meets its regulatory obligations to provide a safe railway in respect of the major projects.

 

We do this by:

 

  • Establishing rail safety requirements for project delivery and outcomes
  • Informing the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) of changes to the railway
  • Maintaining safety interfaces through collaboration with other Rail Transport Operators
  • Supporting assurance processes to promote improvement opportunities

 

 

We are looking to connect with a professional who has:

 

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Rail Safety National Law
  • Knowledge of the 29 elements of a Safety Management System required by Rail Safety National Law Regulations
  • Rail Safety Management experience.
  • Experience and confidence in advising stakeholders regarding rail safety
  • Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • A high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.

 

As a Principal Rail Safety Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Providing rail safety inputs to the development of project design and delivery requirements.
  • Reviewing project safety documentation to ensure compliance with rail safety requirements.
  • Responding to project stakeholder requests for rail safety & accreditation advice.
  • Developing and maintaining safety interface arrangements through collaboration with other Rail Transport Operators and Principal Contractors.
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of safety interface arrangements to ensure railway operations are  safely managed.
  • Undertaking assurance activities to identify project and contractor compliance with rail safety national law requirements.
