We have a rare opportunity for a permanent full-time role within our Rail Signalling Design team in the role of Principal Signal Engineer (Operational Works).

About your opportunity

 

  • Undertake design verification and reviews: coaching professionals within the team to solving technical challenges with Signalling Design articles including Signalling Arrangements, Control Tables, Circuits and Interlocking Data, with a focus on operational works.
  • Provide technical guidance as a railway signal engineering specialist with a focus on operational works e.g. On Time Running (OTR) improvements, and asset renewal projects.
  • Supporting signalling project delivery through entire project life cycle, including review and input to estimates, schedules, scoping, design staging, preliminary design, detailed design, responding to RFI’s, commissioning, and as-builts.
  • Work closely with other Railway Signal Engineering lifecycle roles such as Concept, Asset Management, Reliability, Testing and Commissioning, as well as building strong business relationships with rail operations stakeholders and project teams to deliver the best outcome.

 

What you will bring

 

  •  Analytical skills including critical thinking, data analysis, research and ability to identify and solve complex issues directly and lead other Professional Engineers within the team to achieve successful railway Signalling Design outcomes.  
  • As a senior role in our team, we are looking for someone with extensive industry experience with demonstrated time in railway Signalling Design or technical Project Engineering roles.
  • High level of team, stakeholder and contractor engagement communication skills, ability to work across multiple functions and scopes of work, take accountability and drive successful outcomes.
  • Ability to be assertive and influence key parties to ensure railway Signalling Designs produced conform to Queensland Rail and industry best practice.
  • Independence and ability to operate without direct supervision and exercise initiative.
  • Big picture thinker - solutions and outcome driven with future vision for yourself and our organisation.
     

Qualifications 

 

We are seeking the qualifications below at the time of application.

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) degree.
  • Registered Professional Engineering Queensland (RPEQ).

Location and other information

 

  • Brisbane CBD office location.
  • Standard 76 hour fortnight, there may be the occasional/ad hoc requirement for outside standard business hours/weekend work availability, where benefits will apply in order to support key projects.
