About the role

 

At Queensland Rail, we connect communities and industries across Queensland. As Principal Signal Reliability Engineer, you’ll deliver expert signalling engineering services that drive asset performance and reliability. You’ll champion the application and continuous improvement of standards and specifications for signalling systems, ensuring best practice in maintenance and operational processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide engineering expertise in developing, maintaining, and auditing signalling asset maintenance plans, standards, and checklists to maximise reliability and efficiency.
  • Oversee reliability processes including investigations, root cause analysis, KPIs, and performance reporting to monitor signalling asset availability.
  • Manage systemic issue tracking and lead rectification strategies to improve safety and reliability, including predictive maintenance trials and asset upgrades.
  • Deliver specialist technical advice and certify signalling works to ensure compliance with safety, operational, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate on strategic maintenance planning and recommend capital investments to reduce costs and enhance asset performance.
  • Mentor and coach engineers to maximise team performance and development

 

What We’re Looking For

 

We’re seeking a highly experienced and qualified engineering leader who brings:

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical/Electronic
  • Leadership experience in managing technical teams and delivering asset management outcomes

 

Position Description

 

Remuneration and Work Arrangement

 

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Brisbane CBD, offering a competitive salary package. Relocation support is available if required. The base salary begins at $160,991, with the final offer to be determined based on the experience of the successful candidate.
