About the role

 

As the Principal Engineer – Traction Distribution, you will lead a team of specialists within the HV Systems Engineering team, providing both engineering and people leadership. Your focus will be on the design, development, and assurance of traction distribution and earthing & bonding systems. You’ll be a key technical advisor, supporting internal and external stakeholders and driving the development of QR’s standards and specifications.

You’ll also have the opportunity to influence major projects including:

 

  • Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail Project
  • Queensland Train Manufacturing Program
  • The Wave Project

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Lead the Traction Distribution Team in overhead wiring, traction distribution system earthing and bonding design
  • Provide technical advisory and assurance support across the business
  • Develop and maintain QR’s standards and technical specifications
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers
  • Make critical technical decisions to support safe and reliable rail operations

 

What we’re looking for

 

We’re seeking a highly experienced and qualified engineering leader who brings:

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering
  • RPEQ registration
  • Extensive knowledge of 25kV AC electrification overhead wiring and earthing & bonding systems
  • Proven experience leading traction distribution design
  • Strong understanding of relevant industry standards
  • A passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent

 

Position Description

 

Remuneration and Work Arrangement

 

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Brisbane CBD, offering a competitive salary package. Relocation support is available if required. The base salary begins at $160,991, with the final offer to be determined based on the experience of the successful candidate.
