The Regional Planning and Project Controls team has an exciting, 12-month fixed-term, full-time opportunity for suitably experienced Program Analyst strong skills in analysing and reporting.


About the role

This position is responsible for delivering high-quality, analytical, and business-focused project finance services. Working across both financial and non-financial systems, you will develop, manage, and continuously improve reporting processes to ensure transparency, accuracy, and insight into project revenue, costs, and cashflow forecasting. The role has a strong focus on financial governance, audit compliance, and providing strategic analysis to support better project outcomes.

We’re seeking a highly organised and motivated individual who is adaptable, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to continuous improvement and proven experience in producing informative, high-quality financial reports and dashboards.

 

In this role, you will also:

  • Develop and maintain financial procedures that support audit and reporting requirements.
  • Analyse and interpret project and program financial and performance data, identify and manage financial risks, recommend business improvements, and enhance costing and forecasting methods to support informed decision-making.
  • Produce reporting and dashboards for Senior Leaders to assist the business in data driven decision making (including developing new reporting and dashboards)
  • Liaise and support stakeholders to provide expert advice and assistance on finance and system related issues
  • Build collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal teams and government agencies.

 

What you can bring to the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled analyst who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about improving financial processes within major infrastructure projects.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Advanced skills in gathering, analysing, interpreting, and reporting on both financial and non-financial data.
  • Advanced skills in contemporary office software, especially Microsoft Excel, with experience in developing tools in systems such as Power BI or Tableau highly advantageous
  • Previous experience using SAP R3 suite advantageous
  • Sound level of knowledge of project management principles and practices in particular the general project lifecycle, financial management, project control techniques, project auditing and Queensland Rails investment policies and procedures
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, project-focused environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders and document processes for others to follow.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

The role offers a starting salary of $135,000plus 12.75% superannuation, along with hybrid work options to support a healthy work-life balance.
