About this role:


Entering Queensland Rail’s Major Projects division, you will be working with the System Integration & Assurance Team as the Project Certifier. You will provide technical leadership within a multi-disciplinary and multi-party environment, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant, and operationally effective.

 

This role is a fixed term role until 30 December, 2030, based in Brisbane CBD.

 

You can expect some of your responsibilities to include: 

 

  • Lead the end-to-end certification process for Major Projects including development of certification plans, assessment of compliance, and management and reporting of all non-conformances.
  • Act independently in discharging Queensland Rail's Project Certifier obligations, ensuring decisions are impartial and not influenced by any Project Party as defined in relevant Project Agreements and the Signalling Projects Framework Agreement.
  • Review and assess system architecture, design packages, management plans, test plans, and reports, and issue formal certifications in accordance with Project Agreement requirements.
  • Attend required hold and witness points and provide any required verification input, certificates and notices as detailed in relevant Project Agreements.
  • Facilitate coding workshops to reconcile review comments, resolve technical issues, confirm final coding outcomes, and ensure all parties have a shared understanding of required actions.
  • Consult with design review & construction team, project stakeholders and the Independent Safety Assessor to ensure timely, accurate and defensible certification outcomes.
  • Collaborate with project parties to support expeditious and pragmatic resolution of identified non-compliances, ensuring the delivery of a compliant, safe and fit-for-purpose asset for Queensland Rail.
  • Maintain accurate and auditable records of assessments, certifications, and challenges, and provide clear, timely reports and information to Queensland Rail and the Project Owner to ensure visibility of risks, issues and certification progress.
  • Build and maintain collaborative and constructive relationships with key stakeholders cross-agency ensuring inter-disciplinary engage.

 

What you can bring to the role:

                                                                                                                                                          

  • Extensive knowledge of systems engineering, systems safety and assurance principles and practices in rail signalling projects involving multi-supplier integrations.
  • High level of engineering verification and validation skills, with the ability to deliver project certification.
  • Extensive technical and operational knowledge of railway systems, including contemporary electrical and signalling systems, industry standards, and associated rail safety standards.
  • High level of communication skills to interpret and translate complex technical information into clear, structured, and defensible reasoning in support of certification and reporting.
  • High level of influencing and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders, manage conflict resolution and collaborate with cross functional teams in a dynamic environment.
