About this role:
Entering Queensland Rail’s Major Projects division, you will join The Wave Brownfield Alliance as a Project Engineer. This role is dedicated to the Stage 1 Brownfield package, working within an embedded alliance team to support the safe, compliant and operationally effective delivery of works in and around the existing Queensland Rail network. You will apply your engineering and project management capability in a multi-disciplinary, multi-party environment, helping coordinate design development, construction planning, technical reviews, assurance activities and delivery interfaces for this specific Alliance package.
This role is a fixed term role until 01 January, 2030. This role is part of the Wave Project and will initially be based in Brisbane, transitioning to Beerwah from April 2027.
Salaries are between $118,870 - $125,748 + super.
You can expect some of your responsibilities to include:
- Provide engineering advice and technical support for The Wave Brownfield Alliance, including track, civil, stations, facilities, systems, utilities and other rail infrastructure interfaces associated with the Stage 1 Brownfield package.
- Support the development and coordination of project plans, scopes of work, programs, risk controls, management plans, budgets, quality requirements, resources and stakeholder inputs for the Brownfield Alliance.
- Assist the Alliance delivery team with design review, construction planning, site investigations, procurement inputs, contract administration, audits, inspections and delivery readiness activities.
- Monitor project activities and report on progress against agreed cost, time, quality, safety and assurance requirements, with a focus on the specific deliverables and interfaces of the Brownfield Alliance.
- Prepare clear project updates, technical inputs and decision-support information for the Project Director, Alliance team and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Support quality, completion, handback, asset acceptance and close-out activities to ensure Brownfield Alliance outcomes are ready for safe integration into Queensland Rail’s operational network.
What you can bring to the role:
- Strong knowledge of rail infrastructure delivery in an operational railway environment, including safety, environmental, quality and operational requirements relevant to Queensland Rail.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, monitor and support delivery of complex rail infrastructure works, preferably within an alliance, major project or similarly collaborative delivery environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work constructively with designers, contractors, delivery partners, technical specialists, operators and maintainers.
- Sound project management capability, including the ability to manage priorities, risks, issues, interfaces and reporting requirements in a fast-moving project environment.
- Practical capability in monitoring budgets, forecasts, scope changes and delivery performance, and in supporting evidence-based decisions that protect Queensland Rail’s operational and commercial interests.
