About the Role
Queensland Rail is seeking a Rail Safety Accreditation Manager to lead the development and implementation of rail safety accreditation strategies and plans for The Wave and Logan to Gold Coast Rail projects. You will manage accreditation activities, and oversee the integration of safety management system requirements. Working closely with project managers, their teams, and Rail Safety colleagues, you will support Queensland Rail in meeting its legislative obligations, while maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship with the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR).
With a focus on stakeholder engagement, you will build productive relationships across project teams and ensure that safety interfaces with other Rail Transport Operators and the Department of Transport and Main Roads are effective. This is a fast-paced role requiring strong planning, communication and problem-solving skills to manage changing priorities and critical accreditation timelines.
Purpose That Counts – Some of the responsibilities of the role:
- Support the project teams by developing, implementing and reviewing rail safety controls to manage risk and achieve safety objectives, while providing expert advice to stakeholders on rail safety accreditation requirements
- Lead the integration of Rail Safety legislative requirements into project delivery by establishing and managing accreditation plans and overseeing accreditation activities
- Monitor and analyse rail safety performance, providing clear reporting, insights and recommendations to drive continuous improvement and ensure alignment with Queensland Rail’s safety management system and accreditation obligations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, regulator representatives and TMR, promoting collaboration, capability uplift, and effective coordination of safety interfaces with other Rail Transport Operators
People Who Count - What you can bring to the role:
- Extensive knowledge of rail safety management principles, rail safety legislation, and rail projects, with the ability to apply risk-based approaches within a large and complex operating or construction environment
- Proven capability to collaborate with and where necessary lead teams in a dynamic setting, combined with strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills that build trusted partnerships
- Demonstrated experience in program and change management, including the ability to identify impacts, implement controls and coordinate management systems that improve efficiency and reduce risk
- Experience in risk management, including identifying, assessing and reporting on safety, compliance and performance risks, with a commitment to supporting organisational objectives and continuous improvement
