About the project

 

Join a transformative infrastructure program shaping Queensland’s future.

The Wave is a major transport initiative set to transform connectivity from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast. Delivering new heavy rail from Beerwah to Birtinya and an express metro-style service through Maroochydore to the Sunshine Coast Airport, this project will reduce travel times, ease congestion, and improve regional connections, leaving a lasting legacy for the 2032 Olympic Games and beyond. With a focus on safety, innovation, cutting-edge design and rapid delivery, The Wave isn’t just building tracks, it’s building a brighter future for connecting communities.

About this role:


Working within Queensland Rail’s Major Projects team and specifiall on the new WAVE project, the Senior Manager Commercial & Contracts will lead, manage and provide strategic direction to the commercial and contracts team. This position is also responsible for providing strategic management advice and subject matter expertise on multiple contractual delivery options. It is an exciting time to join QLD Rail with huge growth on the horizon as we get ready for Olympics 2032!

 

 

Purpose Thast Counts -  some of the responsibilities of the role to include:

 

  • Provide strategic leadership, guidance and direction to the Commercial and Contracts team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including DTMR, Ministers Office, Delivery Authorities and internal departments
  • Actively participate as a member of the leadership team, providing expert advice on related issues
  • Ensure the team meet KPIs whilst managing a range of relationship and key strategic objectives
  • Provide timely direction to the team to ensure the delivery of a range of complex contracts

  • Extensive knowledge of governing legislation, regulatory, commercial and contractual requirements in a government environment
  • High level of skill in managing high performing commercial teams
  • High level strategic, conceptual, analytical, collaborative and influencing skills
  • Extensive knowledge interpreting, managing and translating evolving commercial requirements in a contractually diverse environment
