Your Opportunity

Queensland Rail is seeking a Senior People Adviser to join our HR Central People Services team on a fixed term contract until March 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert advice and support to over 8,000 employees across the organisation.

In this role, you will deliver guidance on a wide range of people and culture matters including policy and enterprise agreement interpretation, salary and entitlements, recruitment and onboarding, performance management, absenteeism and general people management.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert HR and ER advice to leaders on complex matters including performance management, workplace behaviour, dispute resolution, and the application of HR policies and procedures.
  • Partner with leaders and staff to proactively resolve HR and employee relations issues, ensuring compliance and supporting organisational objectives.
  • Engage and influence key stakeholders to support effective people management and maintain strong customer-focused relationships across the business.
  • Prepare documentation including reports, recommendations, correspondence and case records to support effective HR operations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and business processes through accurate documentation and consistent application of HR practices.
  • Coach and mentor team members, providing guidance on contemporary HR and ER practices and acting as an escalation point for complex matters.
  • Conduct research on HR trends, workplace issues and emerging risks, and provide informed recommendations to leaders.
  • Develop and deliver training and awareness sessions to build capability in HR policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

About you:

  • Demonstrates a high level of skill in providing expert advice and assistance on HR matters, supported by strong knowledge and application of employment law, Enterprise Agreements and HR policies.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of contemporary HRM issues and their practical application within large and diverse organisations.
  • Shows strong interpersonal and communication capabilities, enabling effective negotiation and influence at all organisational levels.
  • Brings well‑developed skills in managing HR matters and leading HR initiatives.
  • Applies high-level consulting and facilitation skills to identify priorities, resolve issues and build productive business relationships.
  • Exhibits strong coaching, analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and provide informed advice.
