Are you an experienced Senior Civil Engineer looking for a role where you can make a real impact?  

  

Join Queensland Rail’s Track & Civil Engineering team where you’ll apply your civil engineering expertise to support the safe and efficient delivery of Queensland Rail’s track and civil projects. Working both independently and with key project partners, you’ll provide technical advice, guide major externally delivered works, and help ensure engineering solutions are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards. 

 

This is a Fixed Term Queensland Rail Employment contract covering maternity leave, to April 2027 based in Brisbane.

Here’s some of what the role will focus on

 

  • Working autonomously to provide engineering technical services to achieve objectives against specific KPIs, budgets and timeframes.  
  • Provide engineering support on a variety of track & civil engineering projects.  
  • Provide engineering technical advisory services to a number of externally delivered major projects and communicating Queensland Rail’s requirements to a variety of different stakeholders.  
  • Managing resources, consultants, and contracts to assist in the delivery of safe, timely and commercially sound engineering solutions.  

  

Who We’re Looking For   

 

You’re a proactive problem-solver with strong technical expertise. You thrive in a dynamic environment and can build strong relationships across a range of stakeholders.  

 

Qualifications and licences    

 

  • Bachelor Engineering Civil degree (or QR accepted equivalent) 
  • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) – highly desired 
  • Unrestricted national drivers licence 

  

You will also bring  

 

At least 3 – 6 years of relevant experience in: 

 

  • Providing engineering design and technical support.   
  • A high level of skill in providing civil engineering support (drainage, flooding, geotechnical, civil and track) is highly advantageous. 
  • Demonstrated strength in relationship management, with experience negotiating key outcomes, resolving issues, and engaging and influencing diverse stakeholders. 
  • Understanding and executing high level of prioritisation skills.   
  • A commitment to a value-engineering approach.   
  • A track record of effectively managing several complex, time critical projects at once.  
  • Civil engineering background within a rail environment would be highly regarded.
