Are you passionate about driving meaningful change and improving documentation? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Document Developer to join the team for an initial contract until 30th June 2026.

 

About the role

This role supports a major enterprise‑wide transformation to modernise Queensland Rail’s Safety and Environment Management System (SEMS). It focuses on improving and transforming documentation to enhance clarity, consistency, usability, business performance, and compliance.

Through strong analysis, collaboration, and the application of innovative practices, the role ensures documentation effectively supports safety outcomes, regulatory requirements, and strategic business objectives.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the creation, editing, and maintenance of complex technical documentation, including safety procedures, transformation materials, and compliance documents, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and usability.
  • Improve documentation efficiency by leveraging tools such as Artificial Intelligence to streamline writing, review, approval, and change‑tracking processes.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and transformation leaders to ensure documentation supports business change, future readiness, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide oversight of document control and approval processes, supporting audits, regulatory reviews, and project milestones while ensuring compliance with rail safety and transformation standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in documentation practices by analysing existing materials, developing standards and frameworks, resolving stakeholder issues, and embedding improved processes and training.

 

About you:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical and regulatory information.
  • Experience supporting large‑scale transformation or change initiatives in safety‑critical or regulated environments, with a focus on clear, compliant documentation.

 

  • Highly organised with strong analytical skills, comfortable using complex systems and digital tools (including AI), and managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proven ability to develop, standardise, and maintain documentation frameworks, templates, and standards that support transformation and operational readiness.
  • Strong capability in document control, version management, and compliance, ensuring documentation meets audit, regulatory, and governance requirements.
