Queensland Rail is seeking a Senior Engineer - New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) to join our Customer Assets Maintenance Team.
- Based in Brisbane CBD (with occasional visits to the Wulkuraka depot).

Your Opportunity
Reporting to the NGR Technical Assurance Manager, this role is responsible for delivering high level technical support, engineering assurance, and compliance oversight for the NGR fleet.
You will work closely with suppliers, internal Queensland Rail teams, and government partners to ensure the fleet continues to operate safely, reliably and efficiently.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will provide expert engineering oversight and technical assurance of the NGR fleet. Some of the responsibilities include:
- Delivering senior-level technical advice and fleet management support for the NGR fleet.
- Reviewing and approving engineering modifications, change documentation and maintenance manuals submitted by the manufacturer and depot teams.
- Reviewing safety investigations, including 8D reports, and contributing technical recommendations.
- Conducting fleet performance monitoring and analysis to improve safety, reliability and compliance.
- Supporting audit and assurance activities, including site checks and depot inspections.
- Participating in static and dynamic testing activities for NGR as required.
- Ensuring compliance with QR standards, legislation, and the QR Safety Management System.
What You’ll Bring
You’ll have strong experience in rollingstock engineering, or closely related heavy vehicle industry, with the capability to analyse complex technical information and engage effectively across diverse stakeholders.
- High level of experience in passenger rollingstock or related engineering environments.
- Strong communication skills, able to influence and engage with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Experience reviewing and approving engineering design changes or modifications.
- Ability to conduct technical investigations and prepare detailed engineering reports.
- Experience working with suppliers and government partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical ideally).
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or evidence supporting the ability to achieve within a 12 month period.
- International qualifications must be verified through the Washington Accord and assessed by Engineers Australia.
