About the role

 

Queensland Rail have a permanent fulltime opportunity for the Senior Manager for our South East Queensland Facilities Maintenance team based in Brisbane. This role is responsible for the end-to-end asset management of Queensland Rail’s SEQ stations and depot facilities, including buildings, stations, car parks, and ancillary infrastructure. This role takes a whole-of-life approach to managing the SEQ facilities asset portfolio.

 

What You’ll Lead and Deliver

 

  • Directly lead 7 Operational Managers, 3 Operational Coordinators, and indirectly a dedicated team of 140 employees across Queensland.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of Queensland Rail’s facilities asset base, from post-construction through to end-of-life disposal.
  • Oversee facilities asset management budgeting, including annual expenditure and 1–5 year operating and capital plans.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve asset utilisation and lifespan, enhance service delivery, and apply Lean maintenance practices.
  • Drive cultural change by promoting a service-focused asset management approach that ensures assets are fit for purpose and support quality service outcomes.
  • Lead a large team, upholding Queensland Rail’s human resource and safety standards, including performance management and championing exemplary safety behaviours.

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

 

  • Senior-level experience in facilities asset and maintenance management, including whole-of-life asset planning, preventive and reactive maintenance strategies, and strong contract management expertise across complex infrastructure portfolios.
  • Proven ability to lead large multidisciplinary maintenance teams, with a strong focus on people management, performance development, and driving cultural and operational change in asset-intensive environments.
  • High-level interpersonal, consultation, and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build productive partnerships and collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and service providers in the delivery of maintenance and facility services.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing significant maintenance and capital works budgets, and a solid understanding of cost control, procurement, and lifecycle costing.
  • A proven safety focus, with a strong track record of applying and championing OHS&E standards, policies, and practices in maintenance operations and high-risk work environments.

Remuneration and Work Arrangement

 

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Bowen Hills just outside Brisbane CBD at our Mayne depot, offering a competitive remuneration package and relocation if required.

Working Monday to Friday this role includes regular visits to the various facilities around Brisbane to maintain strong, visible support across teams.
