Based in the Brisbane CBD, this role is critical to managing the interdependencies of highly complex portfolio of Rollingstock Projects and delivering these projects to capital plan requirements. As well as to identify project risks and escalate issues that could threaten the delivery of the projects. 

 

As a pivotal member of our team, you will be responsible for projects being delivered out of 3rd party supplier's premises as well as QR facilities. This will require regular travel to supplier's premises located within regional Queensland.   

 

Your success in this role will be determined by your ability to work within governance requirements; manage competing project requirements; foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and effectively lead a team of experienced project delivery professionals.  

 

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Participate as a member of SEQ Project Delivery Senior leadership team to lead and manage a highly professional project delivery team in a dynamic and integrated passenger rail infrastructure environment.  

  • Serve as single point of accountability for the successful delivery, and subsequent benefits realisation, of projects within the portfolio of Rollingstock projects. 

  • Together with the General Manager SEQ Project Delivery, achieve the Queensland Rail business targets, objectives, performance measures & safety responsibilities. 

  • Lead and manage internal stakeholder relationships related to rollingstock at executive and senior management level. 

  • Work within the enterprise project management frameworks and governance arrangements. 

  • Lead the delivery (safety, on time, on budget, on scope) of allocated capital and operational programs on behalf of the business ensuring the multi-disciplinary interfaces are managed. 

  • Act as point of escalation and/or mediation to proactively manage risks and issues which arise with the potential to impact program delivery. 

  • Achieve the SEQ Project Delivery business targets, objectives, performance measures, safety responsibilities and continually seek to implement business performance improvement initiatives

What we are looking for: 

  • High level of understanding and experience in all aspects of program and project management methodologies within a complex and multidisciplinary operating environment 

  • High level of skill in the leadership and the effective management teams to delivery large, multi-disciplinary projects through a variety of delivery models. 

  • Substantial experience in the delivery of a capital program in a commercially performing business, including developing and managing budgets across a program of multi-disciplinary projects. 

  • Extensive knowledge of rail business and operations required for effective decision making about program delivery strategy, performance monitoring and governance. 

  • High level of interpersonal communication, consultation and negotiating skills that build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders and clients. 

  • Extensive knowledge of procurement processes, contracting principles and contract administration, with a particular focus on creating high performing partnerships. 

  • Extensive knowledge of relevant policies and legislations impacting on the provision of programs and projects in a railway or similar environment and of the systems and tools to support the project assurance, governance and controls
