We’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Manager – Training & Development to lead our newly centralised enterprise-wide training function. This is your opportunity to build a high-performing team, embed a future-ready learning model, and position Queensland Rail as an industry leader in capability development.

 

Your impact on a Tomorrow that Counts
•    Enterprise Training Strategy: Lead the design and delivery of risk-based, compliant, and future-focused training programs across Queensland Rail.
•    Learning Operating Model: Embed and refine the operating model to deliver consistent, high-value training services to support our service delivery.
•    Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all training programs meet legislative and regulatory requirements, with robust governance and risk controls.
•    Team Formation & Growth: Build and lead a newly centralised Training & Development team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer focus.
•    Capability & Performance: Elevate workforce productivity, safety, and operational excellence through innovative learning solutions.
•    Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong partnerships with internal business units, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
•    Technology & Systems Integration: Embed the new LMS system including enhanced reporting and analytics

•    Capability Forecasting: Lead strategic initiatives to identify future skills and workforce needs, integrating emerging technologies like AI into training delivery.

•    Industry Experience: Background in RTOs, rail, heavy infrastructure, mining, or large blue-collar organisations.
•    Influential Communication: A collaborative influencer with the confidence to engage senior executives and the authenticity to connect with frontline teams.
•    Strategic & Hands-On Leadership: Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels—designing future-ready frameworks while staying close to day-to-day operations.
•    Stakeholder Strategy & Execution: Thrives in complex stakeholder environments, building trust, alignment, and momentum across diverse groups.
•    Adaptability & Resilience: Comfortable navigating change and challenge, with a proactive mindset and a solutions-focused approach.
