Your Opportunity
Queensland Rail has an exciting opportunity for an experienced analyst with a passion for trains and modelling, to join our Digital Assests and Analytics, Network Capability team as Senior Network Capability Analyst. The permanent fulltime position is great for someone with genuine interest in Railway Infrastructure and Operations.
In this role, you will support resilient rail networks through precision modelling and planning, by assessing, managing, and maintaining Queensland Rail's network capability models using advanced simulation and analysis tools. The role ensures resilient and efficient utilisation of network by providing accurate modelling insights that support effective planning, operational performance and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain network capability models using advanced simulation tools to support forecasting, scenario planning and operational decisions.
- Manage and optimise modelling datasets, ensuring accuracy, integrity and availability across Queensland Rail’s systems.
- Analyse train plans to assess network utilisation, identify constraints and highlight opportunities for improvement.
- Provide clear modelling insights and validated outputs to influence operational and strategic planning.
- Monitor network performance, working closely with internal teams to understand operational needs and service impacts.
- Apply best‑practice capability and capacity modelling techniques used across the rail industry.
- Support major strategic projects—including network upgrades, timetable assessments, traction power studies and future service planning—through detailed modelling and analysis.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure modelling outputs support effective, informed decision‑making.
About you:
- Experience with TRENO Suite, OpenTrack & RailSys is desirable.
- Strong capability in developing and applying complex rail network modelling using advanced simulation tools.
- Skilled in managing and analysing large datasets, ensuring data accuracy, and assessing network utilisation, constraints, and opportunities.
- Proven problem‑solving and analytical ability, with experience identifying performance issues and delivering innovative modelling solutions for strategic projects.
- Effective stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and ensure modelling outputs support informed decision‑making.
- Solid knowledge of rail operations and capacity planning, including timetable development, network performance factors, and contemporary rail industry methodologies.
- Strong ability to interpret modelling outputs and communicate technical insights clearly to support operational and strategic decisions.
