About the Role

 

We’re seeking a technically strong Senior Payroll Officer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced payroll environment and enjoys providing expert support to both team members and leadership. In this role, you will contribute to complex payroll problem solving, quality assurance, and consistent service delivery, while working closely with the Payroll Team Leader to support operational objectives.

What We’re Looking For

 

We’re looking for a seasoned payroll professional with deep SAP Payroll knowledge and a strong understanding of how payroll systems interact with policies and Enterprise Agreements. To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Extensive experience in SAP Payroll, including technical understanding of end-to-end processes.
  • Proven ability to reconcile payroll results and apply quality assurance practices.
  • Confidence in interpreting Enterprise Agreements within a payroll context.
  • Experience managing team workloads and coordinating payroll cycles under tight timeframes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

 

 

Key responsibilities include

 

  • Verify employee master data and payroll outputs to ensure alignment with policies, awards, and legislative requirements.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Payroll Officers, supporting knowledge development and consistency across the team.
  • Administer end-to-end payroll processing for a designated portfolio, including commencements, terminations, allowances, and deductions.
  • Investigate and contribute to the resolution of payroll issues, recommending process improvements where applicable.
  • Perform reconciliations and data integrity checks to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Offer advice and information to managers, team leaders, and union representatives on payroll matters. 

 

 

 

Remuneration & Employment Type

 

 

This is a 12-month fixed-term, full-time position is based in Brisbane CBD.  The role offers a starting base salary of $117,750 plus 12.75% superannuation, along with hybrid work options to support a healthy work-life balance, after an onboarding period.
