About the role:

 

We are seeking a Senior Signal Engineer to join our Signalling Engineering team at Queensland Rail, focusing on Design.  As the Senior Signal Engineer, you will be accountable for providing professional leadership and high-level expertise in the area of testing and design of safety critical signalling systems and equipment.  This area includes processor-based interlocking (PBI) and conventional relay interlocked mission critical signalling systems as used by Queensland Rail.

 

You can anticipate some of your daily duties to include:

  • Principles testing of signalling interlockings, develop simulation data, changeover and perform systems integration tests in line with Queensland Rail’s signalling principles to validate safe train separation and safe train operations.
  • Provide professional advice on signalling system staging strategies to effectively integrate Signalling works in a multi‐disciplinary railway environment to simplify testing and commissioning.
  • Organise and plan the technical aspects of large and highly complex signalling projects commissioning for the business.
  • Develop and execute principles test plans and test rig design as required for principles testing of a major railway signalling and operational systems and to ensure their appropriateness and completeness to the approved design.
  • Ensure that the requirements of Train Operations and other engineering disciplines are catered for in the Principles Test planning.
  • Organise and prepare the associated documentation and testing plan necessary to test complex signalling installations.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with departments of Queensland Rail and third parties delivering services or Capital work for Queensland Rail.
  • Support establishment of systems assurance reports including preparation and auditing of test validation documentation.
  • Provide expert engineering services in relation to Principles Testing to complete projects against specified Key Performance Indicators (KPI), considering scope, quality and safety including allocated budgets and timeframe to deliver valuable commercial outcomes for the business.

 

About you:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent that is recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland) registration (or must be able to obtain within 6 months)
  • Strong experience in signalling systems and testing of moderate to complex signalling projects.
  • Proven experience in signalling engineering, preferably focussed on Principles Testing and/or Design.
  • High level of communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Remuneration will be negotiable for the right candidate with suitable experience
