Queensland Rail is looking for a Senior Telecommunications Interface Adviser for a fixed term 24 month opportunity. We’re seeking applications from proactive professionals to support the interface between Queensland Rail’s Telecommunications Engineering and the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), ensuring seamless execution of interface activities and technical alignment.

About the role:
Queensland Rail is partnering with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to deliver its Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP). The program includes the design and manufacture of 65 new trains to cater for the growing demand for rail services within Southeast Queensland. The new trains will be manufactured and maintained in Queensland thus creating jobs in the rail industry and associated supply chains.
Some key areas of focus for this role are:
- Provide a clear and consistent Telecoms Engineering interface to the QTMP team.
- Assist the integrated planning, implementation, and deployment of various Telecommunications Engineering systems for QTMP.
- Provide oversight and alignment to the various intra-Telecoms technical teams to ensure cross system coordination and efficiencies.
- Assist in the identification of inter-discipline dependencies, deficiencies, conflicts, risks and opportunities that arises from the integrated plan.
- Identify, assess and report on risks and opportunities.
- Monitor and report on business readiness requirements and milestones.
- Accountability for the planning and delivery of Queensland Rail works.

What you’ll bring:
- Conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills to enable the identification of risks, issues and opportunities.
- High level of interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Telecommunications Engineering systems knowledge and its interfaces and role in the business. Such as Train Control Systems, Passenger Information Systems, CCTV, Data Networks, Power Supervisory System, Station Systems and Radio Systems.
- Substantial knowledge of Telecommunications technologies and standards.
- Management skills across teams of technical specialists, coordinators, and project managers.
- Experience with procurement processes and project works.
Location and typical working hours:
- Standard 38 hours per week Monday to Friday.
- This role will require occasional pre-planned/ad-hoc weekend work for handover and acceptance testing.
- Mix of office based work at our Brisbane CBD location with opportunity to be present at QTMP sites such as Torbanlea and Ormeau.
