Queensland Rail is looking for a Senior Engineer – Traction Distribution who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our 25 kV AC electrification network. This role offers the chance to apply your engineering expertise to deliver innovative outcomes across some of the state’s most significant rail infrastructure programs.
About the role
As the Senior Engineer – Traction Distribution, you will provide specialist expertise within the HV Systems Engineering team, contributing to the design, development and assurance of traction distribution and earthing & bonding systems. You will be a key technical advisor, supporting internal and external stakeholders and contributing to the ongoing development and refinement of QR’s standards and specifications.
You’ll also have the opportunity to influence major projects including:

Key responsibilities
- Supporting the Traction Distribution Team in overhead wiring, traction distribution system earthing and bonding design
- Provide technical advisory and assurance support across the business
- Develop and maintain QR’s standards and technical specifications
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, as required
- Make critical technical decisions to support safe and reliable rail operations
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking a highly experienced and qualified engineering leader who brings:
- Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)
- Extensive knowledge of 25kV AC electrification overhead wiring and earthing & bonding systems
- Proven experience in taking lead on traction distribution design
- Strong understanding of relevant industry standards
- A passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent

- The base salary ranges from $143,800 - $153,880 plus 12.75% Superannuation, determined based on the experience of the successful candidate.
