The Workforce Optimisation team is responsible for developing job cards (Rail Traffic Crew daily activities) to support changes to Queensland Rail’s SEQ Master Train Plan, Concept Modelling, special events and large-scale network closures.

 

Our team of specialists combine the use of HASTUS and internally developed tools with a comprehensive understanding of our business, to provide robust, data-driven insights to help inform future strategic planning for traincrew. 

 

We are a supportive unit that works collaboratively with each other and external stakeholders.

 

 

Your opportunity

 

We’re searching for a skilled Senior Workforce Optimisation Analyst (AS6) to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Queensland Rail’s workforce.

 

This is a great opportunity for anyone with experience in coding and programming, particularly those with a mathematical or statistical background, seeking to continue to grow their career and expand into the public transport industry.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Leverage your strong coding ability to further enhance our internal processes, quality assurance tools, and reporting dashboards.
  • Mentor junior team members on the creation of reports and tools.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of workforce requirements to develop future work schedules that enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to strategic workforce negotiations by conducting scenario analyses that inform cost-effective and operationally sound outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their operational needs and contribute to the development of effective workforce schedules.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position based in Brisbane CBD, concluding on 30 June 2026. The role offers a starting salary of $135,199 plus 12.75% superannuation, along with hybrid work options to support a healthy work-life balance.

 

 

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in coding / programming, preferably in Python.
  • Skills in the use of a range of data analytical tools to aid in the ongoing support of internal reporting processes and provide statistical and data driven insights to support future decision making.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills to interpret business data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • A proactive team player who thrives in a collaborative environment, actively contributing ideas and expertise to achieve shared goals.
