As a Signalling Engineer within our Signalling Engineering Delivery team, you will contribute to the design, maintenance, and commissioning of railway signalling systems. This role offers opportunities to work on challenging projects that impact both urban and regional rail operations, fostering your professional growth within a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Functions: Perform assignments in signal engineering, both in the office and field, to meet Queensland Rail’s operational needs.
- Design and Documentation: Develop signalling circuit designs, control tables, cost estimates, specifications, and associated documentation.
- Validation and Testing: Conduct safety-critical design validation and oversee testing and commissioning of signalling installations.
- Project Supervision: Guide and check the work of technical staff assigned to projects.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with stakeholders to produce signalling concept designs, AS designs, and technical requirements for safeworking alterations, work in collaboration on project initiatives.
What You’ll Bring
- Sound understanding: Railway principles and processes and experience in Signalling Arrangement concept and alteration, signal circuit design.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated skills in maintenance, project management, or testing, with a sound understanding of signalling principles and standards aligned to these.
- Autonomous Drive: Proven ability to work independently while setting clear goals and delivering team-oriented outcomes.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce concise technical reports.
- Problem-Solving: Practical understanding of railway principles and processes, with hands-on experience in signalling arrangements and circuit design.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Engineering Electrical/Electronic Degree.
International qualifications will need to be recognised under the Washington Accord/demonstrated by ‘an entry to practice competently’ having been awarded to you by Engineers Australia and accepted by Queensland Rail.
