Your Opportunity:
The Signalling Asset Renewals Mechanical team, alongside the electrical team, specialises in high quality signalling asset renewals and upgrades across SEQ and the regional network. The team can reliably perform a wide range of tasks ranging from civil works such as concrete formations and trenching to specialised mechanical adjustment of points and boom mechanisms. Based at our Qantas Drive Depot, this team is dedicated to maintaining safety, quality, and operational excellence.
We are seeking a dedicated Support Maintainer (skilled labourer) to join our SARS team.
- As a Support Maintainer, you will provide trade assistant support to a Mechanical System Maintainer’s working on mechanical signalling equipment in the field.
- We promote progression, part of the role will be to complete a Certificate 3 in Mechanical Rail Signalling with the goal of becoming nationally recognized trade qualified Mechanical System Maintainer.
- There is a varied array of rail specific infrastructure that you will be working in this role such as Points Machines, Level Crossing and Pedestrian Crossing Mechanisms
- Perform Protection Officer duties as required.

What we’re looking for:
- Must hold a current manual C class drivers licence
- Self-motivated individual who wants to learn and expand their mechanical skills and knowledge
- Skilled labour experience
- Someone that enjoys working outdoors
- Mechanically minded and passionate about safety.
Roster: Depot roster consists of day shifts, Monday to Friday, with one LDO (Local Day Off) per week, typically on either Monday or Friday depending on business needs. Away work is determined by project access requirements and may involve day, afternoon, or night shifts.
Travel: Project requirements may include extended periods away from home. Work rotations can involve swings of up to 10 days, with longer projects typically following a 10-days-on and 4-days-off roster. Candidates must be prepared and willing to work away from home as needed.
