Your Opportunity
Queensland Rail are currently seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join our SEQ Safety team in the position of Team Leader Safety. Our SEQ Safety team are an integral part of managing the safety of our workforce capability in the rail network.
In this role you lead the relationship between the SEQ Assets function and Safety & Risk, ensuring integration and prioritisation of safety initiatives against key business drivers and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manager a team of 7 (3 Senior Safety Advisors and 4 Senior Safety Facilitators) responsible for construction and contractor safety services activities
- Provide leadership and strategic advice on operational safety issues through effective strategy formulation, customer, business partner and stakeholder engagement, financial and commercial excellence and people leadership.
- Achieve the business targets, objectives, performance measures, safety responsibilities and continually seeking to implement business performance improvement initiatives.
- Lead and manage the establishment and implementation of the safety strategy, and establish frameworks, programs, policies and plans that will achieve these strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain excellent strategic and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide integrated overall operational safety management for the Function as a single point of accountability.
- Oversee the provision of consultancy and education services to the function in SEQ Assets safety management to enable them to identify safety issues and successfully implement safety programs.

Roster Information:
Whilst this role is Monday to Friday, occasionally you will be required to work a rostered weekend or as part of Standby / On Call arrangement. Weekend work is planned well in advanced, and you will be compensated as per the Enterprise Agreement in place.
About you:
- Experience in high-risk safety critical industry.
- High level leadership, strategic thinking and management skill to deliver consistent outcomes across a large and complex safety orientated organisation.
- Extensive knowledge of contemporary safety principles and practices as they apply to large, complex organisations
- High level of skill in leading several safety professionals in supporting discipline teams through the implementing of safety and risk management governance frameworks, strategies, programs, policies and procedures within a
- High level of influencing, interpersonal, consultation, relationship building and negotiation skills that build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships.
- WHS qualification is desirable.
- Someone who has passion, interest and enthusiasm for safety.
