We’re looking for a Senior Tester in Charge / Testing and Commissioning Coordinator to join our Signalling Testing and Commissioning Engineering team.

Your opportunity
In this pivotal role and your expertise will be key to ensuring the integrity, safety, and efficiency of our railway network. Some key responsibilities include:
- Ensure signalling systems are constructed, tested, and commissioned in line with engineering standards and operational requirements
- Plan and deliver commissioning activities, balancing cost, schedule, and resource priorities
- Lead end-to-end testing and commissioning, including certification for operational service
- Develop and manage assurance, testing, and commissioning documentation
- Identify and mitigate risks affecting delivery timelines and system handover
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams to support integration and operational readiness
- Uphold competency and fatigue management standards (FAID) across commissioning activities
What you will bring:
We’re looking for experienced professionals who can thrive in a dynamic environment and bring:
- Extensive expertise in the testing, commissioning, and management of railway signalling systems
- Strong knowledge of railway safe working principles, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- The ability to work autonomously, managing complex and high-risk tasks with confidence and minimal supervision
- A sound understanding of statutory, regulatory, and policy obligations, particularly relating to safety, environmental compliance, and commercial contracting processes
Mandatory Qualifications:
- A recognised Associate Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Institute of Rail Signal Engineers (IRSE) Tester in Charge Licence
- Ten years’ plus of experience in railway signalling is highly desirable
Location, Hours and Travel Requirements:
Based in Brisbane CBD, this role will also support major projects such as ETCS, RIS Alliance and Major Re-signalling Projects with occasional travel to sites across Queensland.
While the role is based on a 76-hour fortnight, flexibility for after-hours and weekend work is essential to meet project demands. Overtime penalties applicable under standard award agreements or Time Off In Lieu (TOIL).
