Queensland Rail is looking for pro-active and detail-orientated Training Planner & Scheduler on a full-time basis to join our Career Pathways & Training Integration team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new team to provide a centralised training planning & scheduling service for the business as part of our new Learning Operating Model at Queensland Rail.

 

Your Opportunity

Queensland Rail’s Training and Development team is seeking a motivated Training Planner & Scheduler to join the team for an exciting 18-month opportunity commencing Monday, 28th July 2025.

 

You will work closely with key stakeholders to coordinate and support externally delivered training. This includes proactively planning training activities and collaborating with your wider team to develop and implement annual training plans that align with business needs. In addition to providing advice and support as required, you will:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to plan, schedule, record, and report on training activities.
  • Coordinate and manage training sessions within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Liaise with external providers to ensure smooth and effective delivery of training.
  • Complete timely and accurate administration of training records.
  • Manage purchasing activities efficiently, including the raising and closure of Purchase Orders.
  • Proactively identify and suggest improvements to enhance the Training Planning and Scheduling function.

The ideal candidate

This role is for someone who has a problem-solving mindset, who enjoys effective organisation and structured processes in a fast-paced environment. In addition, you will have:

  • Ability to plan and organise training plans, fitting many moving pieces into the puzzle and being able to pivot quickly when required.
  • High familiarity and capability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities to meet fixed deadlines.
  • Sound level of analytical ability to understand data to make it meaningful and relevant for evidence-based decision-making and planning.
  • Intermediate capability using Microsoft Excel and the wider MS 365 Suite for planning and coordination purposes is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar training planning, scheduling or rostering function is advantageous, but not necessary.

 

Remuneration & Employment Type

This is a fixed term position with a contract until 22nd January 2027, based in Brisbane CBD, offering a starting salary of $101,000 plus 12.75% superannuation. The successful applicant will be expected to commence employment on Monday, 28th July 2025.
