About the role: 

This permanent role is part of our Track Production team within the SEQ Track and Civil Infrastructure business and is based at Cannon Hill. As a Welder you will undertake welding repairs of track and components in the field under the direction of a Senior Welder. The majority of welding will be wire feeder and some stick.

 

This position is always in the field therefore you must be happy to work in a variety of weather conditions, particularly very high temperatures. You must be physically fit to walk long distances on a regular basis and lift heavy objects.

 

The successful applicant will be motivated to perform Protection Officer duties. As a Protection Officer you will be empowered to proactively and autonomously coordinate access and documentation of your allocated worksite which are on or near the track, assisting work groups to ensure safety and environmental incidents do not occur. 

 

We encourage progression in our team, and you will have the opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure - Track along with other rail specific training.

 

We are looking for a self-motivated Welder with:

  • Field welding experience
  • General civil labouring experience
  • Experience in a position that required following diagrams and written weld procedures, protocols and writing.
  • Current manual C class driver’s license
  • MR license is desirable.

Hours:

Currently the team work a fortnightly rotating roster, this is subject to change with business needs, the below is an example of the roster:

 

Week 1: Monday and Tuesday 2100-0500, Wednesday and Thursday RDO, Friday 0630-1500, Saturday and Sunday 0600-1630

Week 2: Monday to Thursday 0630-1500, Friday LDO, Saturday and Sunday RDO

 

Overtime is available but must be approved within our fatigue management guidelines.
