As an Apprentice Carpenter with Queensland Rail based at our Portsmith Dept in Cairns you’ll contribute to our proud legacy, and help us build an even brighter, more sustainable future - and that means incredible things for your career.

 

Our Apprentice Opportunities

In this apprenticeship you will 

  • Perform all work safely and in line with Workplace Health, Safety, Environmental and legislative requirements.
  • Contribute to the reliability and availability through performance of preventative maintenance and repairs to carriages, plant and                      facilities in accordance with relevant procedures and instructions. 
  • Maintain accurate records of asset condition, maintenance programs, and costs.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Commit to your Apprentice Training Contract by attending block training and completing on-the-job log books promptly.

As an Apprentice you will have

  • A genuine interest in carpentry with a willingness to learn and develop trade skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to working safely and following instructions.
  • Reliable, motivated, and able to work effectively both in a team and independently.
